Best Walking Regions in Herefordshire: Dog and Family Friendly
Herefordshire is home to so many beautiful by-ways and the views across them are breathtaking. We’re so proud of the walks you can do here, we even have a walking festival to celebrate them.
With many different walks that will suit all the family and are perfect for your dogs, whatever the weather, there is something to enjoy.
In this article, you’ll find four walking regions which will give you the opportunity to explore the best of the Herefordshire countryside.
What's your word?
We know that the parks can mean something different to each of you. Sure, they all have a 5 Star rating, are clean and tidy etc. but we want to know what they mean to you emotionally?
If you could sum up, in one word, how being here makes you feel, what would your word be?
Family? Freedom? Happiness? Escape? Togetherness? The list can go on, but we want to hear your connection, your thoughts, your word. We believe that the words that you have are the secret to why the parks are so special.

3 Parks Challenge
Plans are afoot to cycle between the three parks - Arrow Bank, Pearl Lake and Rockbridge - not once, but 3 times!
One circuit is 25 miles and with careful planning and rest stops, Tony Ward (Pearl Lake B65) has set himself a target of 3 circuits - a grand total of 75 miles!
Aiming to complete the challenge one day this summer, Tony is riding to raise money for the Stroke Association and all donations are gratefully received. We will be collecting on the day, but Tony will also have a Just Giving page as well as accepting donations in person on park.
Blooming Marvellous
We have taken the 2021 David Bellamy ‘Blooming Marvellous’ Pledge!
We pledge to:
-
Improve our existing habitats for wildlife.
-
Create new wildlife habitats and features where possible.
-
Manage our greenspace in as environmentally friendly way as possible.
-
Involve everyone in wildlife conservation.
-
Engage with local conservation bodies and projects.
As part of this we need to include records / photos / descriptions of what we have done / what we have planned to do...
And this is where all you lovely people come in.
We encourage everyone to get
Just for the record
No names, no pack drill - you all know the reasons why this year the park opening was delayed until April 12th - but who, in their wildest imaginings could have predicted we would have been greeting you in a snowy Herefordshire?
Still, it was a beautiful sight - one for the scrapbooks. All gone by tea time and back to normal!

Joining Lake to Land
At Pearl Lake the fantastically practical and visually superb jetty is now in place and open for use.
It is more a pontoon - a floating deck if you will - that offers practicality with the least environmental impact on the lake. Be aware that you will feel it move as you walk upon it.
Please take care whilst on the jetty
Remember, a lake can be a dangerous place
Please do not let children or pets play on the jetty
Enjoy the jetty but please respect it
Please do not swim or play in the lake
Sorry, no fishing from the jetty
Keep off when there is ice or frost

A Lakeside Thank You
I just want to say a huge thank you for the continued support over the summer.
We have had a great time with the Golf competitions, bowls match and not forgetting the beer and gin boxes over the Bank Holiday. I also want to say a huge thank you to Tony & Jackie Ward for helping to organise the Golf Days and to Rachel Wild for helping to organise the August Bank Holiday Bowls Match.
We have had a fantastic turn-out and its been great to meet some new faces.

Everybody needs somebody
Where is one supposed to start?
How does one express heartfelt thanks of such magnitude?
We want to say the biggest thank you to all of you for being there, for understanding, for supporting us, for rallying round, for your patience and kindness, but most of all for standing by us and helping us to believe that there is a silver lining to the cloud cast over 2020 and that together we can reach out and bathe in the light once again.
Thank you for everything and for proving that, without you, life at Discover Parks wouldn’t feel quite so right.
Glenn & Hannah and the Team
What a whopper!
April has been good to one of our holiday home owners.
Putting his water craft and experience to good use, Dave landed this beautiful 18lb 4oz Carp at Pearl Lake. The lake can be very rewarding if you have the patience to study the swims. This is not a match lake, this is a beautiful natural body of water that is as much for wildlife lovers as it is for fishermen.
